Admission price: 150 Q (Effective November 5th, 2007)

Bus from Guatemala City: 100 Q to 150 Q for luxury bus (8 hours)

Bus station: is Fuentes del Norte (17a calle, Ave 8-46, Zona 1)

I’ve been to the Copan Ruinas in Honduras and Tikal is more spectacular. If I had only one choice between Copan or Tikal. Tikal is the one I would choose. I stayed in Hotel Taipei in Guatemala City and caught the 10 am bus to Flores. It was an easy 8 hours with movie and plenty of sight seeing out the window on the luxury bus. The 150 Q┬áprice for the luxury bus includes a simple bag lunch and the bus has a bathroom and a free movie. Once I got to Flores I found Hotel Mirador del Lago. Definitely put Tikal on your to do list.

Tips for Tikal:

  • Heavy boots
  • Drinking water (they sell water in the park)
  • Snack
  • They have restaurants across from the gift shop. Breakfast (eggs, beans, coffee) for under 20 Q.
  • Rain poncho
  • Spend the 20 Q for a map at park entrance
