Travelers paradise does not exist.

You can travel until you drop dead searching for the “so called” travelers paradise and never find it. Paradise exists in your head. Until you find peace within, your search will continue in disappointment.

travelers paradise

Empty out a closet and sit in it without the lights on. Don’t come out until you can stand yourself. Once you have achieved this, you have found travelers paradise.

Traveling with a parent with Alzheimer

My thinking is “Go for It!” My recommendation would be sticking in the developing world of Central America. Guatemala is an excellent choice. You might be wondering why I consider Guatemala a good choice? Because I have witnessed a son traveling with his father on the shores of Lago de Atitlan in Guatemala.

The spirits of the mountains in Yungay, Peru.

I knew there was something in front of me. It was not something I could touch. Tears flowed down my cheeks. Beautiful… as the surrounding mountains, she whispered in my ear.

spirit_mountains_peru1

I knew this lady, yet nothing human stood before me. This spirit or deep feeling was very friendly. Perhaps we have crossed paths before. Maybe she raised me as a child. She could be my mother alive in the mountains of Peru. Was it time for a visit from her? I don’t know, but she caressed my cheek and wiped my tears away.

Don’t be afraid child. Look at the beauty that surrounds you. Open your eyes.

Loved ones die… yet where do they go?

On May 31, 1970 the city of Yungay, Peru was completely destroyed by an earthquake an a enormous rock and mud avalanche. From this homestead you have a direct view of where the old city used to stand and also the massive cemetery below.

She stands over her beloved city and tends to her flowers. She speaks if you allow yourself to listen.

spirit_homestead_peru

She whispers…I love you!

I was thinking about freedom and animals.

escape_bird

All of these animals have been captured either to be used as pets or food. The living ones are thinking about how to escape from their captivity.

escape_bird

Every living thing on this planet desires freedom. Few of us are really free. Is freedom security and happiness?

escape_calf

Yeah, I know you are going to retire and then live your life. Travel the world and live the way you always wanted to…. Free. God, I hope you make it!!!

escape_chicken

What is the pleasure of having a bird in a cage? There is nothing pleasurable about staring at a bird in a cage to me.

escape_parrot

Passports, visas, border crossings, allotted travel time in country, luggage checks, fingerprints, photo ids…etc.

escape_pig

Sometimes I think the traveler has the freedom of a caged bird.

Even when we die, they try and put us in a box and bury us in a rectangular hole in the ground. Pump our veins with embalming fluid so we can’t rot.

escape_turtle

Freedom is just a state of mind. It’s a word. It’s everything.

Religious fanatics remove nipples from women.

Wandering around the museum area of Parque Arqueologico in San Agustin, Colombia my friend and I came across this picture of native women with their exposed nipples removed. Our eyes met and we both bent over into a gut-bursting laugh.

Some twisted confused religious fanatic has had their mind washed with irrelevant scripture.

These are native women fully dressed. Please wake up and evolve.

The next day walking around town I came across a beautiful mother breast-feeding her baby. I thought, “how beautiful and natural.” Midway down the block I did think, “damn she has some nice tits.”

Is that wrong?

We all need friends.

down_on_luck1

Walking around Masaya, Nicaragua I took a picture of this man that looked very sad and down on his luck. Then I came across a dog that looked like he could use a good bath and some love. Maybe they will cross paths someday and take pity on each other.

Peyote

peyote

peyote

So you are thinking about doing Peyote (you fool). Realize that you are about to open up a new world that will leave you scratching your head and then searching for the truth.

If Peyote decides to find you, then you will begin a journey (yes, Peyote finds you, you don’t find Peyote). Maybe a nightmare into the door of your soul.Imagine walking around a small Mexican town with a loud train that goes right through the middle. Your dead mothers head is stacked 3 feet deep as you walk in search of a way out. You walk with a female police officer and she points to the bus station. You confirm in your mind that you will leave tomorrow and never come back. Walking into a small church Peyote reveals the biggest puppet show on earth.  Outside the church an old man smiles. He knows what gringos do in his town.

Respect for the plant and respect for the people for allowing you to explore the truth.

This journey is a all nighter and most of the day. Its a thinker. Visions will dance above your head. Mysterious creatures lurk around the corner in the shadows.

This is where Peyote lives. Possibly you will find yourself illegally climbing over fences that guard the sacred plant. You will have to eat Peyote in the field or risk going to jail if you are searched by police.

peyote

Not very tasty. You choke down three to four of these Peyotes and hold back from puking.

eatpeyote

Wow, not exactly the best environment to explore Peyote in. Some dead end hotel next to the railroad tracks. Hold on. Your journey is just getting started.

dirtypackpeyote

Hey, it’s time for the traditional forced puke.  No turning back now. Better get a grip and hold on. Your biggest fears and joys are about to be put on the big screen of reality. No where to run and no where to hide. Its just Peyote and you.

pukepeyote

If you start to get scared, go hang out with the horses.  Walk around nature and tell yourself everything is ok. It will get better!  Peyote is just revealing what you already know. Life is beautiful. Death is real. Life and death are one.

horsepeyote

Maybe explore the church for comfort.  Is it real or just a puppet show? Could this be a myth or story. Peyote seems to be telling me something. Whats to be believed? Something I can touch with my hands and see or something I read about and pretend exists?
churchpeyote

Save the best for last! Its the last few hours that are the most beautiful. Colors and sounds become extraordinary. Your teacher is now showing you life in the purist form.
