I'm on the Isla De Ometepe in Nicaragua.

Rather disorganized here on the Island of Ometepe. I’ve been hanging out with a Swiss climber named Eugene and hitting a beach near the town of Altagracia that I’m staying in. Climbed the small Volcano Maderas, which kicked my butt and trashed one of my boots (so I need to get that repaired.) It took me a couple days to recover from the climb.

I met a nice girl in San Juan del Sur and she has been on my mind. My days are running short in Nicaragua and need to head over the border into Costa Rica by the 16th.

Still have not made my mind up to fly or take a boat into Columbia, South America. Need to find a guidebook in San Jose, Costa Rica and buy a voltage converter plug for my computer.

So today I’m organizing my video, pictures and articles to post online. Most likely I will head back to San Juan del Sur and use the free Internet access in the library?

The Volcano Concepcion has been spewing some heavy smoke and ash onto the Island lately and makes me wonder when the big eruption is going to happen. I’m living on the right side of this active Volcano Concepcion.

The #1 tip for getting ready to travel?

Buy your plane ticket to your destination! I’ve always found that the only way to truly get ready for leaving home is to purchase your plane ticket. That forces you to mentally get all the little stuff done around home.
