Can’t really say I’m crazy about San Miguel, but it’s an OK stopover point on your travels through El Salvador. Pretty decent selection of hotels and plenty of comedors to grab a bite to eat. The streets are empty once it gets dark, so be sure to get the stuff you need for your hotel. On the far eastside of Costa del Sol, El Salvador you will find the run down town of La Puntila. I took the bus from Playa Los Blancos for 35 cents and had a peek around. Los Blancos beach seems deserted February 6, 2010. Not much to do, but swim and catch some rays. Maybe wait for the small fishing boats to come ashore after a long day of fishing. I was helping the fishermen push their boats ashore after each wave of the incoming tide.
